An unforgettable wildlife experience near RipJack Inn
Playa Grande is famous for its Leatherback turtles. Starting in October, visitors from all over the world come to witness these 800 lb. creatures coming ashore and laying their eggs. Towards the end of the season, guests can take guided tours to see the turtle hatchlings make their way towards the Pacific. Turtle season officially spans October 15 through February 15, though turtles can be spotted all year long off the coast.
Please note that due to new regulations, turtle tours inside Las Baulas Marine National Park at Playa Grande are no longer available. However, we organize guided tours to see green tourtles and leatherback nesting and hatchlings in nearby protected beaches such as Playa Minas and others, where you can still enjoy this incredible experience responsibly and sustainably.
